Position Type:  Part-Time; On-Call

Closing Date:  When Filled

Hourly Rate:  $20 per hour; Not Benefit Eligible

Start Date:  Immediately

Reports to:  Executive Assistant

Job Summary

A substitute receptionist is employed at an hourly rate and is on-call to work when a receptionist or other general office staff are on vacation or have called out sick, sometimes with advance notice and at other times with little notice. The substitute would be provided on-the-job training and would be responsible to act upon general office duties, including but not limited to the following tasks in the absence of our receptionist or other general office staff:

  • Open the office and phone lines on-time each day and maintain up-to-date voicemail messages
  • Greet and direct visitors with warmth and enthusiasm
  • Operate electronic visitor system, processing drivers’ licenses for visitor badges
  • Answer and redirect phone calls; navigate our website to assist with answering questions
  • Check and appropriately respond to or forward emails and phone messages
  • Provide back-up support to our Health Room Nurse and Attendance Coordinator
  • Keep front desk area stocked, clean, and orderly
  • Make coffee and stock staff lounge area
  • Sort and distribute mail daily
  • Operate and stock copier, fax machine, shredder, and other office equipment as needed
  • Assist with filing and mass mailings as needed

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma; post-secondary coursework or bachelor’s degree highly desired
  • Previous office experience, preferably in a school setting
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States for any employer. No sponsorship is available for this position
